Screen Framing & Precision Trim Work

Why the Homeowner Wanted a Screened Porch

A Panama City Beach homeowner had a back porch that received a lot of sun during the day and attracted too many bugs at night. Mosquitoes made evening use especially uncomfortable. The homeowner wanted to enjoy the porch with some relief from the sun and a barrier against insects.

Building the Frame and Finishing the Details

Our crew began by installing pressure-treated wood framing and attaching it to the house and existing concrete pad. The main construction challenge was making precise cuts in the Hardie Board trim. We took our time and used the proper tools to fit the trim neatly around the framing. The enclosure included five key components:

  • Pressure-Treated Wood Framing: Wood framing formed the screened openings, with connections to the house and concrete pad.
  • Hardie Board Trim: Hardie Board wrapped the framing and was painted to give the enclosure a finished appearance.
  • Dark Bronze Screen Track: Aluminum track secured the screen mesh around the porch openings.
  • No-See-Ums Screen Mesh: Fine mesh provided some shade and kept mosquitoes out of the porch.
  • Aluminum Storm Door: A dark bronze aluminum storm door provided backyard access and matched the screen track.

Enjoying the Porch During the Day and After Dark

Gulf Coast Decks turned the open back porch into a screened space that addressed the homeowner’s two concerns. The mesh softened the sun exposure and kept mosquitoes outside, making the porch more comfortable for daytime breaks and evenings outdoors.

Painted trim outlined the screened openings, while the matching dark bronze track and door gave the enclosure a consistent finish.
