The Vision: Moving Beyond the Standard Rectangle

Our client envisioned an outdoor space designed for cooking and entertaining with his children. He requested a unique, tasteful design that broke away from standard rectangular deck layouts.

The Build: Precision Engineering & Custom Details

  • Structural Foundations: We began by demoing an old stair system and breaking up an existing concrete porch slab to pour new footers.
  • Multi-Functional Design: To move away from traditional shapes, we created a functional layout featuring a dedicated grill area, integrated seating, and a built-in table for meals.
  • Precision Stone Work: Wrapping Adorn Stone at sharp angles around the grill surround required high precision, which we achieved by investing in specialized cutting tools.
  • Custom Furniture: We preplanned a custom bench design with a detailed cut sheet to ensure a seamless build.
  • Unique Accessories: Instead of a standard handrail, we opted for a built-in planter box to add a tasteful touch and character to the retreat.
  • Quality Materials: Utilizing Deckorators Venture Sandbar composite boards, selected specifically for high performance in our local environment, and Simpson galvanized fasteners, we delivered a durable space built for long-term coastal use.
